Hop Explorer

Effective August 15, 2026

Hop Explorer collects nothing. Everything you record — beers, photos, ratings, locations — is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Data collection

Hop Explorer does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and makes no network requests. There are no user accounts and no servers.

Data storage

All information you enter in the app — beer entries, tasting notes, ratings, flavor profiles, photos, and optional location tags — is stored locally in the app's private storage on your device. It is included in your standard iPhone backups (iCloud Backup or computer backups), which are governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Photos

If you attach a photo to a beer entry, the app copies your selected photo into its private on-device storage. Hop Explorer uses Apple's photo picker, which means the app can only ever access the specific photos you explicitly choose — it cannot browse or scan your photo library.

Location

If you grant location access, the app reads your location only when you tag a beer entry with a place. That location is stored on your device with the entry and is never sent anywhere. Location access is optional; the app works fully without it.

Data deletion

You can delete individual entries in the app at any time. Deleting the app from your device permanently removes all of its data, since no copy exists anywhere else.

Children's privacy

Hop Explorer is an app about beer and is intended for users of legal drinking age. It is not directed at children and, as described above, collects no data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that version is released, with the effective date revised above.
